Daniel Island Farmers’ Market Opens April 19!

The Daniel Island Farmers’ Market is back! Be sure to stop by every Thursday from 4:00 pm to dusk throughout the summer. The market is conveniently located directly on Island Park Drive across from the Publix shopping center. A wide variety of vendors will be offering farm-fresh produce and homemade bread as well as handcrafted jewelry and children’s clothing.  Load up on sugar snap peas, green beans, vine ripe tomatoes, corn, peppers, onions and much more. There’s nothing better than enjoying farm fresh produce all summer long!

With the growing season in full bloom, the South Carolina Lowcountry is practically overflowing with delicious vegetables, herbs and beautiful flowers! And the best place to get your hands on fresh, local produce is at the Daniel Island Farmers’ Market, which is back for its second year at the Family Circle Tennis Center.

Each Thursday = through September 30, the Daniel Island Farmers Market will feature local farms, artists and vendors selling their locally grown foods and goods. Local produce will include sugar snap peas, arugula and spinach, onions, yellow squash, tomatoes, cantaloupe, watermelon and more delicious spring and summer fare! Our Local Foods will also have organic, grass-fed beef and chicken.

Capt’ Hatt’s Shrimp Market will be selling fresh Carolina shrimp and seafood, as well as their delicious fried shrimp and crab cakes. Other food vendors will be on hand selling everything from kettle corn and hot dogs to southern home cooking. Dinner is served!

Artisans will have a variety of handmade arts and crafts for sale including jewelry and iron work inspired by the work of Philip Simmons, local blacksmith and artist. Money raised from these sales will go to the Philip Simmons Foundation. This week’s Farmers’ Market comes just in time for Mother’s Day so get over there and grab mom something local and unique!

Each week the market will feature great live entertainment and in celebration of this week’s first 2010 market, the Daniel Island Hip Hoppers will perform. Also, at the Daniel Island Academy tent, kics can decorate their own personal planter and pick starter seeds of basil, cilantro and mint to add their home gardens.

Daniel Island Farmers’ Market Opens This Thursday, 4/30

Island residents, employees and neighbors from surrounding Mt. Pleasant and North Charleston areas are excited for the opening of the new Daniel Island Farmers’ Market this Thursday, April 30 at the Family Circle Tennis Center. For the first time, families and individuals from these areas will have a centrally located place where they can purchase locally grown foods and trinkets, mingle with friends, and enjoy food, cold drinks and weekly entertainment!

• The Farmers’ Market will be home to a variety of local vendors and farmers selling fresh vegetables, seafood, meats, fresh-cut flowers and more.
• River Run Farms, located on 400-acres in Vance, SC, will be selling their 100% grass-fed beef.
• Farmers will have local vegetables and fruits like sugar snap peas, arugula, spinach, onions, yellow squash, cantaloupe, watermelon and other delicious spring fare for sale.
• And fresh shrimp and fish will be available from Captain Hatt’s Shrimp Market.

Whether patrons are shopping for tonight’s dinner or a weekend get-together, the Daniel Island Farmers’ Market is a great one-stop shopping experience!

Local artisans will be selling jewelry, art, sweetgrass baskets and other crafts and trinkets, and cold beverages and snacks will be available for purchase from a variety of vendors. There will also be live music and entertainment each week. This Thursday, Charleston musician Larry George will be performing his range of contemporary pop, rock, southern rock, country, blues, funk, reggae and jazz.

The Daniel Island Farmers’ Market takes place from 3 pm until dusk every Thursday afternoon from April 30 through September 24, with the exception of May 21 when the market will be closed due to a scheduling conflict. Local Farmers Market Coming to Daniel Island!

Island residents, as well as other Lowcountry locals, were excited to learn recently that a weekly farmers market will be debuting on Daniel Island starting in late-April. The Daniel Island Farmers Market will take place on Thursday afternoons from April 30 through September 24.

Each week, the courtyard entrance of the Family Circle Tennis Center will be transformed to a showcase of local produce, flowers, crafts, art and more. Residents and island visitors can mix and mingle while they shop for the freshest local fruits, vegetables and fresh cut flowers, peruse crafts from local artisans and enjoy prepared foods, beverages and live local entertainment.
