Crowds filled the stands Sunday as play got underway. Sabine Lisicki (GER), world ranked 63, got off to a strong start, winning the first set 6-2 over Caroline Wozniacki (DEN). Lisicki also won the second set 6-4, clinching the title. Making her debut at the Family Circle Cup, Lisicki is the lowest ranked player to ever win the tournament on Daniel Island.
